CMOTF welcomes Crossing Borders Music back to its series, an award-winning ensemble that presents multiple programs which promote the dignity and contributions from people of all cultures.
In this concert, hear Thomas “Blind Tom” Wiggins’s virtuosic March Timpani in a new, Crossing Borders Music string quartet arrangement, commissioned of AJ Isaacson-Zvidzwa, and learn about Blind Tom’s remarkable life story. Celebrate the legacy of the Chicago Black Renaissance with Florence Price’s beloved “Five Folksongs in Counterpoint,” and learn about her challenges and successes as a Black trailblazer in Western classical music. With these selections and much more, CBM offers a unique program that weaves together stories and music through epochs, artistic triumphs, and journeys toward justice.
