Join us for a concert featuring one of Chicago’s most dynamic chamber music ensembles – Quintet Attacca. This five-piece wind ensemble will lead us through an international program with music from Valerie Coleman, Samuel Barber, Astor Piazzolla, Franz Danzi, Paquito d’Rivera, and Alyssa Morris.
Traditionally, we see the phrase “melting pot” used to describe a place where many different cultures and customs come together to create a community of blended traditions. This program expands that phrase to include the vast array of experiences that bring audiences together, the musicians on the stage, and the music we play. This program features composers born between three centuries, residing on three different continents, and spanning four different genres of music (classical, Latin, Afro-Cuban and jazz) – a true blending of experiences that create one very rich program.
